Metallic Wood-boring Beetles
Length 3 to 20 mm long.
Metallic, shiny in green, bronze or black colour, including underside. Body long, bullet-shaped, rigid. Antenna are serrated, 11 segments. Head retracted somewhat into thorax (pronotum). Antenna short. Adults feed on flower nectar and leaves. Feet have 5 segments (Tarsal formula 5-5-5).
Eggs laid in crevices of bark and branches, either damaged or dead; sometimes in stems and leaves of plants, forming galls. Larvae are called flat-headed borers; appearing nail-like, without legs.
